How we got started......
Patti’s Boat Storage came into existence from the result of Hurricane Ivan. The site was originally to be used for construction of new steel and aluminum vessels as an expansion of Patti Shipyard (next door which Frank Patti Jr. operates). The high demand after the storm for waterfront sites prompted the alternative use for the yard. A boat auction of 240 hurricane damaged vessels was held on site in December of 2005. The following January, Patti’s Boat Storage was founded to accommodate the vessels which had no alternative site for storage. Frank Jr. purchased a 50,000 lbs capacity marine hydraulic 18 wheel trailer, boat stands, chains, blocking and a 140 ton truck crane to lift vessels in and out of the water. Frank Jr. then asked his son-in-law, Jeff Lacour to join him to help manage the yard who was a recreational boat salesman and broker. With this newly formed family business, they both shared their duties, with Frank Jr. operating the crane and Jeff operating the marine trailer. As the business grew, Patti Boat Storage has become a friendly family atmosphere with the personal attention to detail. Frank and Jeff not only work at Patti’s Boat Storage and Patti Shipyard, they also live on Bayou Chico. Frank Jr. grew up in a family business (Joe Patti’s Seafood) and now enjoys his own family affair with the business on the bayou, along with his wife, Gretchen, four children, two son-in-laws, and three grandchildren who all reside on the bayou next door.
